Ireland

Ireland

Many of my Irish paintings are along the coastal edge, with rock-pools left behind as the tide recedes, or evening skies reflected in the water. The ocean crashing over the rocks allows me as a knife painter, to use a wide variety dragging and scumbling techniques to create movement and texture. In Ireland the skies greatly affect the landscape, changing its moods, especially when storm clouds are looming Sometimes dark foreboding clouds, will have brilliant sunlight glinting behind them, or shafts of light will break through, illuminating the landscape with a citric yellow glow, which gives me a real buzz.
