Buckingham Palace Tour Artists Exhibition

10th July to 28th September 2025

In July 2025, Alan Cotton’s paintings, which are owned by His Majesty the King, will be selected for inclusion in a Tour Artists’ Exhibition to be staged in the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace.  The exhibition will be on show, during the Summer Opening of the Palace to the public, from 10th July to 28th September. This is to commemorate the 40th anniversary, from when the first tour artist travelled with His Majesty, and a selection of work from all the artists who travelled with him, will be included in the exhibition. These will all be revealed in a new book to accompany the exhibition, ‘The Art of Royal Travel: Journeys with The King’, published by Modern Art Press and available from 19th June 2025

Alan travelled, with the King, when Prince of Wales, as his tour artist to Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. In addition to his paintings in the personal collection of His Majesty the King, Alan also produced an exhibition of work from the tour, which was included in his London Exhibition “From Donegal to the Southern Hemisphere” at The David Messum Gallery in Cork Street. A selection of these paintings, now in private collections world-wide, are shown below.
