When we were living in the Wye Valley, we made many trips to Snowdonia and drove around the mountain to find the best vantage points, often having to climb to reach them on foot. These were the first mountain paintings I did, and the rugged terrain allowed me to make many different impasto and textural marks with the knife. The pen and ink drawing is the largest I have ever done and remains in my own collection When I had an exhibition at the University of Southampton the Snowdonia paintings were in the show and this large painting is now in their permanent collection.
