Transylvania

Transylvania

I was inspired to go to Transylvania after seeing a documentary, where the then, Prince of Wales had land and a complex of cottages and has done much to boost much needed tourism in the region. We visited two locations, Miklosvar and Zalanpatak, where we stayed in the Prince of Wales house and were able to explore the pastoral landscape. It must have been much as England would have been before the industrial revolution, an idyllic rural scene, with meadows full of wildflowers and butterflies, cows meandering down parched earth lanes and carts pulled by horses or oxen, laden with hay or other crops. All the paintings were done in and around the villages in which we were staying.
