Cornwall

The Cornish coastline is very much a continuation of Devon’s coastal edge, but here, particularly on the north coast, the inlets are often narrower, and villages rise steeply up the valleys. In summer, when the tourists flock to this ever-narrowing peninsula, I tend to stay away, but out of season, when the land is left mainly to the locals, it is a joy to explore and make the drawings from which these paintings emerge. I particularly like the areas around Boscastle and Tintagel and the beaches at Yoel and Sandymouth.
